Court Café

Posted: Updated:
What’s cooking these days at Clinton High School?

In the student run, “Court Café”, you’ll find a talented group of students. Some who want to be chefs someday.

Brenda Rasche is the instructor in this culinary arts class. She says the students learn the principles of baking, are taught meal management courses and other aspects of the restaurant business.

There is also a student greenhouse, where lettuce and other vegetables grow. Lettuce used in the salads which students prepare for their guests.

Recently, more than twenty people came to dine at the café.  The students prepared a four course meal, including Apple Soup, Lemony Spring Salad, Chicken Bundles, and Icebox Oreo Cheesecake.

The students learn the proper way to set a table, plan the menu, and do the cooking.

Customers determine how much they will pay for the meal.

Rasche says the students are learning quite a bit about time management, teamwork, and creativity.

They serve meals twice a week at the café.

On Monday’s, they serve Rotary members at a local restaurant.

The Court Café is in honor of the Clinton River Kings and Queens!
