Modify and Motivate

Posted: Updated:

It's kind of an unwritten rule in a library. Quiet!

However, in Woodhull, there is a weekly ritual where silence takes a back seat to exercise and music.

Three times a week, a group of women do aerobic exercising at the Clover Library District Community Room.

The exercise group started  about twenty five years ago. The women call themselves modifiers and motivators.

They exercise to a number of videos.

Sherrie Taylor says they are allowed to modify their exercise routine according to their own health.

They also motivate each other as they are lifting weights, and doing a variety of other exercises.

Tolly Herndon is the oldest member of the group. She is 84. Tolly had total knee replacement and says she was back in a few weeks, exercising with her friends at the library.

Pat Tursky has been with the group for six years. She says moving around and getting plenty of exercise has helped her to prevent some physical problems which might have been on the horizon.

The women started lifting weights six to eight years ago. They usually are two to five pound weights.

Music and motivation at the library. Book it.

About that silence in the library. Tolly Herndon says no worries, they have not moved us out yet!
