Operation Life Preserver To Share Stories Of Local Veterans

Posted: Updated:
Sharing the stories of our veterans. A new initiative in the Quad Cities area called Operation Life Preserver aims to do just that.

Stories like those of Jim Schaefer, 91-year old World War II veteran will be available for generations to come. The goal is to interview WWII, Korean War and Vietnam Veterans and let them share their memories from not just their time in the service, but their life stories as well.

"They're defined by how they grew up, defined by their service time and by what they did afterwards they raised families, built careers and in doing so built America," said Greg Wilson.

The organization kicked off an effort to raise funds online Monday to help get the project going and to find videographers to interview the veterans.
