UPDATE: Wednesday 5/14

Police have released more details on the fatal accident that happened Monday night in Davenport.

The identity of the pedestrian who died is 74-year-old John "Jack" S. O'Brien of Stapleton, Neb.

Officials say weather may have been a factor in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.

UPDATE
: A pedestrian is dead after police say he was struck by a car in Davenport, Iowa.

Police received the call on Monday, May 12, 2014 at about 9:55 p.m.

They say a man from out of state was crossing 2nd Street northbound in the 1300 block, when he was hit by an eastbound Toyota Corolla.

Police say the driver was 46-year-old Travis Hearn of Rock Island, Ill.

The victim was taken to the hospital where he died of his injuries.

His name is being withheld pending the notification of family.

Hearn is being charged with no drivers license.

The accident remains under investigation.

Davenport Police confirm that a man is dead after a vehicle hit him.

The accident happened around 10:00 p.m. Monday night, May 12, 2014.

Police had the 1300 block 2nd Street blocked off for several hours overnight into early Tuesday.

The road is in between the parking lot at Oscar Mayer and the actual plant.
