A riverfront stadium is on the minds of a few Davenport city leaders. This new stadium could be used for saint ambrose university which is currently trying to build its own sports complex in another part of the city, but the project has run into some opposition over that location.

That plan shows the stadium would seat 6,600 people and that's 4,100 more seats than the Saint Vincent location would provide. The facility would also offer a tailgating area and park, and over two thousand parking spaces. This idea comes after months of heated debate about Ambrose's hope to build a new stadium closer to its campus. Neighbors we talked to in that area have mixed reactions about this other location.

"I think its an interesting location, but I feel as though students would be more willing to go to the St. Vincent's stadium since it would be closer walking distance," said Lizz Goecke, who is not in favor of the riverfront stadium.

"It would be nice. It would take care of not only Assumption and Ambrose, but it would have the facilities to take care of a larger amount of people and there will be ample parking," said Shirley Reed who supports the new riverfront stadium.

It's still not clear how much this project would cost, but it's important to mention that these new plans have not been shared with St. Ambrose officials.
