Patrol Car Struck In Henderson County Pursuit

A Henderson County patrol car was struck during a chase overnight.

The sheriff's office says the incident happened just before 1:00 a.m. when a deputy on routine patrol came upon a vehicle sitting on County Road 1650N, just west of Illinois Route 164 near Gladestone, Ill.

When the deputy tried to check on the occupants, the driver took off.

A chase went on for 20 minutes and during the pursuit, a patrol car was struck.

Officials say the vehicle was damaged but the officer was not hurt.

The chase ended in Oquawka, Ill., where the driver, 18-year-old Alex Stanley was arrested.

Stanley was charged with fleeing police, criminal damage to government property, driving under the influence of drugs, possession of drugs and speeding 80 miles an hour in a 55 mile per hour zone.

An 18-year-old passenger was also charged with drug possession.
