Driver Charged In Passenger Death In Galesburg

A driver is facing multiple charges in an accident in Galesburg that killed his passenger.

Police were called to the scene of a crash in the 400 block of McClure Street just after one a.m. May 16, 2014. They say the driver, identified as 24-year-old Bryan Vann of Galesburg, struck a railroad viaduct and fled the scene. A passenger in the vehicle,  23-year-old Albert Prater, Jr. was extricated from the vehicle and taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

Vann was later found and taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries and released. He faces multiple charges including driving under the influence causing a death, failure to report an accident and reckless homicide.
