UPDATE: Missing Boater's Body Found In Mississippi

Posted: Updated:

The Rock Island County Coroner has confirmed that the body found is that of Charles Slocum, missing after a boat accident since May 6th.

The call came in around 4 on May 16th from Sunset Park. Battalion Chief Bob Graff of the Rock island fire department confirmed with us that a body was found in the Mississippi River near the 280 bridge.

Graff says that the Arsenal has taken over the investigation, and the Rock Island coroner is actually on the Arsenal to conduct their investigation.

We also spoke with two civilians who were down there earlier with the police and fire crews. They work at the Unley Marine boat shop just up on the marina. They say the owner, Tom Unley, was the one who discovered the body when he was out boating by the 280 bridge.

As of now, the body is unidentified, but at this point we don't have confirmation that the body is Charles Slocum from a boating accident on May 6th.
