It has been a busy few days for area police. On Wednesday, just before 6:00 PM, Rock Island police were called to the 500 block of 22nd Street, where they found a 21-year-old Moline, IL, man who had been shot. He later died at the hospital. On Thursday morning, just after midnight, Davenport, IA, police responded to a shots fired call in the 1800 block of 8th Street. Later that day, also in Davenport, on Stark Street near Rockingham, a man fired shots, sparking a standoff.

On Sunday morning, at around 12:45 AM, a man was shot in the ankle outside of a liquor store at 2nd and Myrtle Street in Davenport. Several people saw it happen. Staff say they saw both the suspect and the victim inside the store, but once they left, they say they could not see what was happening right outside, in the parking lot, from within the store. However, it was all caught on camera, and Melinda Glade says she saw it all firsthand.

"He shot him right in front of the store," she said.

She and a friend were on their way to ATC Liquor Store, but what they saw outside stopped them from going inside the store.

"We pulled into the lot and noticed that they were arguing," she said.

Moments later, a man wearing green shot another man in the ankle. Police say the injuries are non-life threatening. Surveillance video reveals the suspect entering the store just minutes before the shooting. Staff say he appeared calm.

"This like green jacket guy is coming in the store," said Manny Singh, an employee. "He's not mad or anything. He's not drunk."

Then, three men also came inside, including a man wearing black.

"Black t-shirt guy, something is wrong with him, I don't know," Singh said. "They both like try to fight here, but he did nothing inside."

The man in black and the suspect exchanged words before heading to the parking lot. The shooting happened within minutes. Glade says the suspect then fled toward the Centennial Bridge.

"We reversed as everything was happening," she said. "Like, went on the side, but just everything happened so fast."

She says some of the other men took the injured person to the hospital in their car, and an ambulance apparently arrived a few minutes after they left. She says the experience is unexpected.

"To see it happen was something else," she said. "Even if it is two in the morning, you're doing it right where there are other people. It's foolish."

Davenport police are searching for the suspect. They say they know who they are looking for, but have not released the name.
