Sheley Trial Day 2: Neighbors of Victims Said They Heard Screams

Posted: Updated:

It was a tough day for the family of the victims, as the prosecution began showing the jury photos from the crime scene.

Some of the family members had to leave the courtroom, because the photos were so grisly.

But earlier today, testimony focuses on what the victims' neighbors heard the night of the murders.

One of them, Chasity Gibbons said she woke up to the sound of screaming and thuds coming from next door.

"It sounded like something had been dropped or somebody had fallen," said Gibbons, who lived next door to the victims. "I heard Kilynna say 'Oh, God stop.' She sounded scared."

"I heard loud thuds on my ceiling," said a neighbor who lived below the victims, Nancy Andrews. "I describe them as someone having a heavy work shoe, pounding it on the floor upstairs."

Several other neighbors and friends testified that they were worried about Brock, Ki, Dayan and Kenneth when they couldn't reach them by text or phone, after hearing the screams coming from their apartment.

Some said they tried to knock on their apartment door, with no answer

Another woman, the mother of Kenneth Ulve's son said she was frantically trying to reach him because he was supposed to have the baby that day.

Publicity surrounding the case forced the re-location of the trial to Rock Island.

Sheley was previously convicted of killing Ronald Randall of Galesburg and Russell Reed of Sterling and he still faces charges in the deaths of an Arkansas couple whose bodies were found in Missouri.
