Road Closed After Semi Crash In Hancock Co.

Posted: Updated:
A highway is closed in Hancock County while Illinois State Police clean up the scene of a two vehicle crash. It happened Wednesday morning on Illinois Rt. 96 about a half mile from CR 650 North.

ISP says a tractor-trailer and a passenger car collided as the car was pulling into a private driveway and the truck driver tried to pass it. There were two people in the car, including a 10-month-old child. They were taken to the hospital to be checked out. The driver of the semi was not hurt and police say everyone involved was using the proper restraints.

The crash caused the semi to overturn on the roadway and as of 3:40 p.m., the road was still closed. The road should be back open sometime Wednesday evening.
