Davenport Police are investigating an accident involving a bicyclist and a car.

The incident happened around 12:22 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 in the 1300 block of Kimberly Road.

Police say the car was heading eastbound on Kimberly Road in the inside lane.

At the same time, a bicyclist was heading south, crossing Kimberly Road from a business drive.

Police say he rode the bike into the left front quarter of the car.

He was taken to the hospital with what police say appear to be non-life-threatening injuries.

He was later transported to Iowa City Hospitals for additional evaluation due to possible head injury.

Police say he was not wearing a helmet.

After interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence at the scene, police say the bicyclist failed to stop at a posted stop sign before crossing Kimberly Road and failed to yield when crossing the median.

The driver of the car reportedly had no injuries and refused treatment at the scene.
