Remembering Our Fallen Heroes Locally and Nationwide

Posted: Updated:

Today members of the U.S. Army are placing American flags on graves at Arlington National Cemetery.

For more than 65 years, members of the 3rd U.S. infantry regiment, known as 'the old guard,' have placed the flags for Memorial Day.

Every available soldier in the regiment will be at Arlington performing the duty for more than 250,000 ggrave sites

Soldiers place small U.S. flags exactly one foot in front of each grave marker to honor our fallen heroes.

Local volunteers are out doing the same at the Rock Island National Cemetery.

They too are placing American flags at the headstones of our fallen service members.
