Blues Fest Kickoff

Posted: Updated:

The Mississippi Valley Blues Festival is holding its kick-off party by singing the blues in the Quad Cities.

The party included music by Chris Avey and Hal Reed as well as a breakdown of what you can expect at this year's blues festival.

"Ever body knows that we have the best ambiance of any festival in the country," entertainment committee co-chair Karen McFarland said. "Right next to the Mississippi river, over the Fourth of July it's very patriotic and we are so excited about that."

As part of this year's blues fest, two-time Grammy winner Terrance Simien will teach kids at United Neighbors about the history of blues and zydeco.

There's a free concert during "Red, White and Boom" on July 3rd and George Thorogood and The Destroyers will headline the festival on the Fourth of July.

KWQC is proud to be a title sponsor of blues fest this year.
