The USO of Rock Island is asking for donations of bottled water and the Davenport Fire Department is teaming up to help.

The USO will use the donations to support programs for military members and their families.

It will also go to events like deployment ceremonies, homecomings, and yellow ribbon events.

This is the second year the Davenport Fire Department has joined with the USO for this drive, says Jackie Inman, the Director, Rock Island Center, USO of Illinois.

"In We depend upon the generosity of the american people our local businesses and people to be able to carry out and fulfil our mission of serving our military. So we approached the Chief of the Davenport Fire Department and without hesitation, she said yes we'll do this. So last year we received 110 cases of bottled water which was used in different areas."

"It's important that we serve our military and sometimes the smallest gestures make a big impact."

You can drop off water Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at any Davenport fire station.
