Just eighteen miles left for three Illinois friends who set out on the trip of a lifetime.

Jon Grass of Pekin, Jake Boucher and Garrett Feik, both of Aledo, decided to kayak the Rock River from Wisconsin to Illinois.

On Monday night, they stopped at Lundeen's landing near East Moline and will finish the trip around sundown Tuesday, May 27, 2014.

They've been on the 300 mile journey for fourteen consecutive days, all part of a fundraising effort for Maranatha Baptist University.

People have been donating to their ride to support the school's athletic department and new mascot.

In addition to lending a hand, their trip is also setting a record.

"We're going to be the first group to have ever kayaked the whole Rock River in consecutive days. So that's going to be quite an accomplishment. And it's not anything we were expecting. We weren't looking to set a record, we just wanted to do it just for the fun of it. It's kind of grown into a little bit more. But we've had a blast doing it."

A celebration is planned when they reach the Mississippi River. They expect to complete the trip around 5:30 p.m. at Sunset Marina in Rock Island.
