Posted: Updated:
One motorcycle rider is dead and another is in intensive care after a crash in Lee County over the holiday weekend. On Saturday, May 24, 2014, officers were called to the intersection of Route 52 and Inlet Rd. in Sublette, Illinois.

The sheriff's office says a Kreider Services van with several passengers was southbound on Inlet Rd. when it was hit by a motorcycle in the intersection. The motorcycle driver, 34-year-old Deryle Nickle from Amboy, Ill. was taken to a hospital in Mendota where he died. His passenger, 33-year-old Michelle Kaps of Mendota is in intensive care at a hospital in Rockford. Police say they were not wearing helmets.

Officers say southbound traffic on Inlet Rd. is required to stop at a stop sign. Traffic on Rt. 52 does not have to stop at the intersection and charges are pending against the driver of the van, 37-year old Priscilla Lachat of Amboy. She was taken to a hospital where she was treated and released. Seven other passengers in the van were also treated and released.
