The Quad City Criterium made it's debut in the Village of East Davenport on Memorial Day.

It was moved to the new location after being held in Rock Island's downtown for over a decade.

Now, after the hoopla has died down,  organizers and business owners are calling the new track and venue, a hit.

"It was great. Tons of people down here. The vibe was awesome," says Rudy's Tacos Owner Kevin Quijas. "We're usually open for Memorial Day but it's one of those holidays where we always think about closing... We did easily four times the normal business that we normally do on a Monday."

In the District of Rock Island, some business owners say they are missing the economic effect the Criterium brought to the area, now that it's gone.

"I would like to see more people in downtown Rock Island," says Jose Zepeda, Owner of QC Coffee and Pancake House. "Who wouldn't love that? I'm not complaining because I was busy last Sunday but you can always do better."

Other Rock Island business owners say they weren't sad to see the races move across the river.

They say without people living around the track, like in the District, people couldn't just walk there, so there wasn't a big enough audience to make extra effort profitable for business owners.

"I'm personally not going to miss it," says George Strader, Former Operations Manager at Speakeasy, and current business owner in the district. "The neighborhood itself in the East Village is very close knit, and is the best location for it."

Organizers say there was bigger crowds at the criterium this year, opposed to crowds in Rock Island.

Next years race is already planned for the Village.

It will be the 75 year the race has been held in the Quad Cities.
