Maya Angelou In QCA In 2003

Posted: Updated:

Maya Angelou was here in the Quad Cities back in April of 2003.

"When it looked like the sun wouldn't shine anymore, God put a rainbow in the clouds," Angelou said.

She spoke to students at Palmer College.

Her message that day was one of hope, dignity and passion, achievable in a world without prejudice.

She told Palmer students, staff and community members they too could become rainbows. Angelou's appearance was, at the time, part of Palmer's Diversity Advantage Program, working to enhance diversity at the college.
