Ice Cream Plant Brings Jobs To Tipton

Posted: Updated:
A family start-up business is expanding with plans to bring jobs to Tipton, Iowa. David's Famous Gourmet Frozen Custard company announced inn a new release that it is moving into a new production facility located at 212 W. South St. Once up and running, the facility is expected to bring 34 new, full-time jobs to the area.

The company's product first hit several grocery stores in February under a production agreement with the University of Minnesota's food and science pilot plant when demand quickly outpaced supply.

This week, the company took immediate possession of the building in Tipton and began getting it ready for production. Officials expect the new facility will produce 8600 pints of custard in one shift, which is as much as it currently produces in one week at the UMN facility.

Once the Tipton facility is online, the company plans to expand its reach throughout Iowa and surrounding states.
