A welcoming beauty is being restored to Oakdale Memorial Gardens in Davenport.
After five years, the iron entrance gates are being returned to the granite and limestone pillars they've called home since 1896.
Volunteer historian, Dustin Oliver tells us the gates were taken down in 2009 when several roads were blacktopped in the cemetery, including the Eastern Avenue entrance.
Oliver says the gates were repaired in advance of their return.
He says there are several small pieces of detail that will be replaced, followed by one final coat of paint, restoring the gates back to their original appearance.
Oakdale Cemetery is located on Eastern Avenue across from the Annie Wittenmeyer complex in Davenport.
