You may have noticed a couple on the premiere episode of America's Got Talent doing hand to hand acrobatics and ballet. One member of that duo is a Galesburg native.

Richard Hankes and his fiance Ashley Montague have a website where they are shown practicing their routines. The couple has been together form more than six years and started this style of performance in 2011.

The two practice five to six hours a day, five days a week. They've been training in Montreal, Canada with some of the best instructors.

"What we do is put thousands of hours in and with those hours come the skills, with the skills you're always going to the next level," Hankes said. "You're always pushing yourself harder but you always perform things that are safe enough for you."

Richard and Ashley also talked to us about the interview process, saying they had to audition in front of producers for several rounds before they make it to the show we saw last week.

"We finally got to the last stage of the producers later on they gave us a call about a couple of months ago for the live taping in New York City," he said.
