Patriot Guard Riders Escort Man on Mission to Help Wounded Veterans

Posted: Updated:
People around the Quad Cities stopped and stared as a parade of Patriot Guard Riders passed through downtown Moline, Rock Island and Davenport Friday morning.

The group was escorting C. Ivan Stoltzfus has he drives a 1948 John Deere tractor across the country to raise money and awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project.

The Pennsylvania man started his journey in New Jersey back in April and stopped in the Quad Cities metro on Monday. He parked his tractor and camper outside the Silvis Fire Department during his stay here as we worked to spread the word about his mission.

The Patriot Guard said it was honored to escort him on his journey. The group left the fire station around 7:30 a.m. Friday. They then made their way through downtown Moline, Rock Island and over the Centennial Bridge into Davenport.

The Patriot Guard continued on with Stoltzfus to Plainview, Ia. From there Stoltzfus will make his was to Waterloo, Ia. He will stay there Sunday through Wednesday.

Stoltzfus has already raised about $60,000 and hopes to reach California in August.

TV6 first brought you the story of this man and his remarkable journey on Monday when he got into town. You can read and watch that story here.
