Boy With Autism Walks Out Of Davenport School; Found On Street

Posted: Updated:
A little boy attending a summer school program in Davenport wound up along a busy street Tuesday. According to the Davenport Community School District, the boy, who is four or five years old, was attending the summer autism program in the basement at Madison Elementary School.

A group of students was being taken from the basement to the gym when the boy got out the door unnoticed. A couple saw the boy on Locust St., put him in their car, drove to the school and called police. That's when a teacher came out and identified the boy and he was returned to the staff. The boy was not hurt.

The district says the boy's father was informed of what happened and they discussed a safety plan to ensure it doesn't happen again.
