Man Arrested After Three Stabbed In Sterling, IL

A man is under arrest after police say he stabbed three people.

Police were called to the 1000 block of W. 4th Street in Sterling, Ill. around 10:44 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2014.

When officers arrived, they found three adult victims who police say had been stabbed by 41-year-old Richard C. Snyder.

Police say that Snyder is a live-in family member of the victims and that he had fled the scene on foot.

The victims were taken to the hospital with what police describe as not life threatening.

While officers were at the scene, another 911 call came to police.

The caller said they were approached in the 800 block of W. 4th Street by a man with a knife.

No injuries were reported by this caller.

Snyder was finally taken into custody after a passing motorist alerted police to a man with a knife, matching his description, walking across the Avenue G Bridge.

Snyder was arrested for aggravated battery involving a knife.

Police say during his arrest, Snyder struck an officer. But they say the officer was not injured.

The incident remains under investigation and further charges may be forthcoming.
