IDOT To Answer Questions About Centennial Bridge Repairs

Posted: Updated:

The Illinois Department of Transportation will host two open house meetings Wednesday in the Quad Cities to discuss and answer questions about upcoming construction on the Centennial Bridge.

The first meeting will run from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the county building in Rock Island. The second will be from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Scott County Administration Building in Davenport.

Spokespeople with IDOT and the Bi State Regional Commission both tell TV6 the bridge is in need of significant repairs – particularly after an inspection found a problem with a beam that goes all the way across the bridge.

IDOT said lane closures are scheduled to begin June 23. Then, the bridge will shut down completely between July 28 and September 5. While the date for lane closures could change, IDOT said the shutdown dates will not change. That’s because state and local officials wanted to avoid shutting the bridge down during Bix and Labor Day weekends.
