One Dead, One Missing in Clinton Co. Boating Accident

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE:
Crews have called off the search for the missing boater for the evening because of high winds creating dangerous conditions on the water.

We're told crews plan to resume the search on Sunday morning. At this point, it has become a recovery mission.

Original:
Emergency crews are searching the Mississippi River in Clinton County for one person who remains missing after a boating accident that claimed the life of another boater.

It happened just after 11:30 a.m. on the Mississippi River near the mouth of the Elk River.

The Clinton County Sheriff's Office says five people, including two children, were on board when the boat capsized.

Both children and one adult were rescued.

One adult was confirmed deceased. One adult remains missing.

Clinton County Sheriff's Lt. Tom Paarmaan tells us wind and wave action were likely a factor in the boat becoming swamped.

KWQC has a crew on scene and we will bring you more information as soon as it becomes available.
