The following is press release from the University of Illinois Extension

University of Illinois Extension received a grant from the USDA’s Supplemental Nutrition Program to provide the Supermarket Shuttle which offers FREE rides to and from grocery stores to help limited resource families have greater access to nutritious foods and maximize their food assistance dollars. 

On Saturday, June 21 it will run to the Rock Island Hy-Vee and Adli stores at two different times from these designated stops: Cotton Mill Apartments at 10 or 10:45am; Sunset Heights at 10:10 or 10:55am; Century Woods at 10:15 or 11am; MLK Center at 10:20 or 11:05am; and Spencer Towers at 10:25 or 11:10am. Buses will arrive at the grocery stores at 10:30 or 11:15am and will shuttle shoppers for their return trip at 11:30 or 12:25pm. R

Riders will also receive nutrition information and a free insulated grocery bag. To ride the shuttle, catch a bus at your nearest pick up location.
