Posted: Updated:

The driver of a delivery vehicle is in the hospital after a collision with a train in Whiteside County.

According to a news release, the Whiteside County Sheriff's Office was called to the scene around 4 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2014 on County Line Rd. about a quarter of a mile north of Cooper Rd. That's where a train hit the delivery vehicle, which got stuck on the track and was hit from behind. The impact of the collision pushed the vehicle several yards down the road.

Authorities believe the driver, Matthew J. Wisniewski of Ottawa, Ill. was not in the vehicle at the time and was hurt from debris in the crash.

He was taken to a local hospital, but we have no information on his condition.
