Dog Saved From River In Clinton, Iowa

A dog was rescued from a dangerous place after it found itself in the main channel of the Mississippi River in Clinton, Iowa.

Officials say a jogger spotted the dog from the bike path just before 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2014, and called authorities.

A boat was dispatched from the Clinton Fire Department.

Responders were able to locate and return the dog to the marina.

Officials say the dog appeared to be unharmed.

The animal was turned over to the Clinton Animal Control Officer.
