Figge Receives Gift From Estate

Posted: Updated:

The Figge Art Museum announced a major gift.

The Davenport museum has received a half million dollars from the estate of Ruth Evelyn Katz.

Her son, Marty Katz of Moline, made the donation in honor of his parents and his late sister. The museum says the second floor print gallery will be renamed the Katz Gallery.

Officials say the funds will help make the museum better for visitors.

"It allows us to do things that we might not be able to do otherwise," executive director Tim Schiffer said. "To bring in exhibits, to do programs."

Officials say one of the first big things in the Katz Gallery will be a show from an american folk art museum. You can catch that sometime in November.
