Due to rising flood waters, Davenport city officials will be closing a portion of River Drive.

Crews will close river Drive between Third and Fourth Streets to Division Street.

The plan is to install flood protection along River Drive from Iowa to Perry.

Vehicles will be detoured around the closure; eastbound traffic from Division to 3rd Street to River Drive and westbound traffic from River Drive to 4th Street to Division.

The Public Works Department says volunteers are not needed for sandbagging at this time.

But, they sandbags are being offered to any property owner impacted at any location.

Davenport residents can contact Public Works at 326-7923 to make a request for sand and sandbags.

The city says all downtown businesses, including the Casino will remain open and accessible.
