Mississippi River Flood Predictions Nearing Record

Current predictions are at 21.8 feet which would mean major flooding for the area.. The flood record is 22.6. The City of Moline strongly encourages residents and businesses in the likely affected areas to prepare.

River Drive in Moline from 23rd Street to 55th Street closed this morning due to rising floodwaters.

River Drive from 23rd Street to 55th Street will remain closed along with Old River Drive. Suggested detours include 12th Avenue, Avenue of the Cities, and Illinois 92 (4th Avenue).

Motorists should be aware that it takes very little water to float a vehicle or to become trapped within your vehicle. Motorists are reminded not to drive through flood waters or around barricades. Moline Police Department will be issuing tickets to drivers who disregard the road closure signs on River Drive.

Ben Butterworth Parkway and trail will also be closed for safety reasons.
