Red, White And Boom Cancelled Due To Flooding

Posted: Updated:

The Red, White & Boom committee has announced that the 2014 fireworks show has been cancelled due to flooding.

“One of the spectacular things about Red, White & Boom! is our ability to put on a top-notch fireworks show over the Mississippi River,” said Kyle Carter, Executive Director, Downtown Davenport Partnership in a release. “In this case however, due to flooding, we’re not able to produce a quality show that would meet the expectations of our community.”

The committee was originally given approval to produce the show off of the Centennial Bridge but was later notified that it was not safe for them to do so.

“Safety, flooding, and quality were our primary concerns in making this decision,” said Carter. “The committee will be considering our future options."
