East Moline Fireworks A Go Despite Flooding

Posted: Updated: Jul 02, 2014 11:46 AM
Organizers in East Moline, Ill. say that even though the Mississippi River is rising, the fireworks scheduled for Thursday night, July 3 are still on.

Due to flooding, the fireworks will not be launched from Campbell's Island as in years past.

The plan this year is to launch then from the bike path east of the Visitor's Center in the Quarter.

Because of this, and for the safety of pedestrians, the bike path will be closed to spectators.

In addition to fireworks, there will be food, music from the Dead Roots Band, two free bounce houses and other activities for kids.

Parking is available in the John Deere Harvester lot with a free shuttle to the Quarter starting at 6:30 PM.

Officials are strongly advising pleasure boaters against watching the fireworks offshore due to the dangerous river conditions.
