Davenport Crews Ready for Crest

The current river stage is 19.61 ft and is expected to crest at 20.8 ft by Friday, July 4th.

Crews have: Installed flood protection measures at the LeClaire Band Shell, Modern Woodmen Park, Union Station, River Dr between Iowa and Perry, the Compost Facility, Nahant Marsh, the Onieda Street Landing, near the Main Street Parking Ramp and the Garden Addition. As well as assisted homeowners and businesses with requests for sand and sandbags. Installed pumps and set gates as necessary to flood fight to 21.5 ft. Closed streets and placed detours as necessary to protect public health and safety. Boat docks have been removed from Marquette Street, Credit Island and S Concord


From here on out, crews will be on 24/7 maintenance operations to monitor flood protection in place until flood waters recede below 14 ft. Staff is also prepared to respond to changes in river level that may occur.

For health and safety reasons, the public is advised not to play or wade in flood waters. The best place to view the flood is from the Skybridge.

The City would like to remind residents that going around signed detours is hazardous and the public should avoid all roads with water over them.  

The public should also be advised CitiBus Routes 1, 10 and 14 have been modified due to high water. These routes may experience delays due to rerouted traffic. In addition, on July 3rd and July 5th, exit and entry points to the Ground Transportation Center will vary slightly due to relocation of the Blues Fest to 2nd Street. Modern Woodmen Park will be accessible for all scheduled games and events. 


The Blues Fest is scheduled to take place on 2nd Street.  NOTE: Parking will be available in the Redstone Ramp.  Access to the ramp will be by going the wrong on Brady Street from 3rd Street.  Signage and cones will direct traffic to the ramp.  There is a parking fee of $5 per vehicle entry into the ramp. 


The Freight House Farmer's Market will hold Saturday, July 5th's market in the parking lot of the Scott County Administration Office located at 600 W 14th Street.  All other vendors located at the Freight House complex are open for business and limited parking will be accessible from Ripley during the flood.


Nearly all downtown businesses are open and accessible. Call the business you plan to visit ahead of time to inquire about access. IowaAmerican Water Company reports its operations are not being impacted by floodwaters.

Programs/organizations closed due to high water. The Compost Facility and Union Station are closed until further notice. The River's Edge is closed. Parks and Recreation customer service has been moved to Vander Veer Park Conservatory. The casino is also closed until waters recede below 17 ft. Red, White and Boom has been cancelled.
