After the holiday weekend, the next phase of work begins on the Centennial Bridge.

John Wegmeyer with the Illinois Department says lane closures are still scheduled to begin on Monday morning, July 7, 2014.

The lane closures will happen between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

But, he adds, there will be no lane closures from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p..m.

With regards to 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Wegmeyer says on some evenings there may be lane closures depending on the scope of the work.

Some work can be done at night and if they feel it is safe they will.

But for other work, artificial light is not good enough and certain things are dangerous to be done at night.

Weekend projects will be conducted the same as evening work.

Some days there may be closures and some days there may not be.

The next phase will see the Centennial completely shut down for 35 days between July 28 and September 6, 2014.
