Harbor Village Florida comments on a report that states that 10% of adult deaths are related to binge drinking.

USA (PRWEB) July 03, 2014

According to a recent report from the CDC, excessive drinking is causing 10% of adult deaths (20-64 years) - all preventable. The study was conducted between 2006 and 2010, showing that our battle with alcohol abuse is long from over.

In the recent Time article One in 10 Deaths Due to Excessive Drinking (6/30), it was stated that early deaths from binge drinking costs the U.S. 88,000 lives and almost a quarter of a trillion dollars per year. Only 30% of the deaths came from women, 5% of the deaths came from under aged drinking and but this number is on the rise each year.

The report also revealed 4 specific ways excessive drinking kills; disease (breast, liver and colon cancer), alcohol poisoning, liver disease, and drunk driving. The average alcohol related death resulted in 30 years of lost life. Another startling figure was that of all these deaths, 5% were underage drinking-related deaths.

One fact that cant be ignored is that alcohol abuse claims more lives than mental illness, suicide, diabetes, and even kidney disease. Most of the deaths reported came from a single instance (a car accident, or excessive drinking/alcohol poisoning).
