ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. - Firefighters in Anderson County had to help rescue a man who got stuck in a tree.

Authorities told the Anderson Independent-Mail (http://bit.ly/TVroAh ) that the man was using special devices on his feet to climb the pine tree Friday night in Piedmont when one of the shoes fell off when he was at least 20 feet off the ground.

A friend of the man called 911, and firefighters used a ladder to bring climbing equipment back to him. The man then was able to get down the tree on his own.

Authorities don't know why the man was climbing the tree. His name was not released.
