Sink Hole At John Deere Middle School In Moline, IL

Posted: Updated:
Officials with the Moline School District say a sink hole has developed at John Deere Middle School.

According to Darryl Snyder, the Director of Facilities for Moline Schools, thinks it was caused by settling that's occurred around one of the geothermal wells.

He says it's likely a result of the heavy rains we've been experiencing lately.

The wells were installed a couple of years ago and he says it's not the first time something like this has happened and it's likely not the last.

Snyder says settling is a pretty routine occurrence which usually happens within a few years when the ground is disturbed.
