Clinton, Iowa Approves Deal With Germany's Rail One

The Clinton City Council has approved a development agreement with Rail One.

The German based company makes railroad ties out of concrete and is expanding into the United States.

The Clinton, Iowa site is it's first location in North America, and is part of the new Clinton Rail Park.

Under the agreement, Rail One will get certain tax rebates from the city for ten years.

But, Rail One must create and keep at least 50 jobs over those ten years to get the rebate.

This year, Rail One will get $159,000 in property taxes back.

The company has brought $22-million of investment to the area.
