Celebrating Big Rigs And A Big Anniversary

Big rigs and trucking enthusiasts are converging near Walcott this weekend. The 35th annual Truckers Jamboree got underway at the Iowa 80 truckstop Thursday. There's a truck beauty contest, trucker olympics, pork chop cook out and live music. Organizers are expecting 40,000 to 45,000 people to come between Thursday and Saturday. They say many visitors just want the opportunity for an up close glimpse into the life of a truck driver.

"You see the truck driving down the road, you see them from afar, but don't get to get up close and look inside the sleeper and see some of the amazing things these guys and gals have done to their trucks," said Iowa 80 Marketing Manager Heather DeBaillie.

It's also the 50th anniversary of the World's Largest Truckstop this year and Friday visitors can have a slice of a replica cake designed by a chef on the TLC show "Cake Boss."
