A local player from Peosta, Iowa made his professional debut at the John Deere Classic.

Steve Ihm played a great game, coming in at 10 under overall.

So many locals were here to see Ihm play, along with his large University of Iowa fan base, walking with him from hole to hole.

This was Steve Ihm's first PGA tournament. His family and friends were also watching.

"We're just very excited, just thrilled for Steven," his dad Jim Ihm said. "He's worked very hard for this opportunity and it's exciting to see him taking advantage of the opportunity he has been given by the tournament director. My biggest advice to him is it's time for you to go out and just show off, show your skills and show your hard work, and he has done that."

Steve says he's proud of how he did this week.

"It's something you've always dreamed of and it's kind of crazy that I get to realize that dream, so it's just fun, you know," he said. "Your whole life builds up and to hit those benchmarks where it's still possible, and then to finally have it realized this week was a ton of fun."

Steve's dad says he remembers when Steve used to caddy for him as a kid, and now he has come such a long way in his golf career
