Thousands or people will be in downtown Davenport Friday and Saturday for the tenth anniversary of River Roots Live.

The festivities begin at 11 a.m. Friday when Ribfest vendors begin serving up barbecue. The vendors come from all over the country and are said to be some of the top profession barbecue cookers in the U.S.

Musical acts begin at 5 p.m. Friday with local band The Dawn. Headlining Friday are the North Mississippi Allstars and Robert Randolph & The Family Band. Los Lonely Boys will headline Saturday night.

Organizers are hoping for a turnout of about 25,000 people over the course of the two-day fest.

To celebrate its tenth year, organizers said they are increasing the look and feel of it with a bigger second stage, improved sound and lighting systems, new banners and more nationally touring acts.

Director of Events for the Downtown Davenport Partnership Jason Gilliland said this is the best lineup the festival has seen yet. He adds that ten years is a significant milestone.

“There are a lot of festivals that don't make it ten years,” said Gilliland. “So we're really proud of the fact that we have and been able to keep this going and keep growing every year.”

Admission is free before 5 p.m. both Friday and Saturday. After 5 p.m., the cost is $10 per person over the age of 10.

Free on street parking is available throughout the downtown and several parking ramps will offer $5 event parking.
