 It's called a Living History

Festival. Galesburg

Heritage Days features a good old fashioned, pioneer rendezvous.

The encampment along Lake Storey is filled with activity.

Western Mountain Man Doug McCartney throws a tomahawk at the block.

He says this activity was popular with Lewis and Clark.

Hawk at the Block was a game to pass the time, or perhaps a way to gamble to get money.

Rendezvous Frontier Living.

You can watch a blacksmith pounding away.

A craftsman!

Katie Dile pedals on the spinning wheel.

Displaying the way people in the frontier days made some of their clothes.

Flute Man Dan provides musical entertainment.

He calls himself a Colonial Gentleman.

Jim Strauch makes wood spoons.

Utensils used to eat breakfast as people traveled across the plains in covered wagons years ago.

Ray Price uses his primitive long bow.

The boom from cannons also is part of the activity.

Civil War re-enactors also set up camp for the weekend.

Galesburg Heritage Days runs from August 15-17th at Lake Storey.

A History Festival!
