A Cambridge, Illinois man is in the hospital after crashing his snowmobile in rural Scott County. It happened around 4:30 Sunday afternoon in a field west of Scott Park Road, also known as Old Highway 61.

According to the Scott County Sheriff's Department, 37-year old Robbie Verbeck was going about 70 miles per hour when he made a jump of roughly 100 feet. When the snowmobile landed, deputies say, Verbeck was thrown off.

We're told he was talking after the accident, but complained of some back pain. Emergency crews rushed him to a local hospital by MedForce helicopter. They believe he may have neck injuries.

Old Highway 61 is a snowmobile route with groomed and marked trails, but according to the Scott County Sheriff's Department the snowmobile was not on the trail at the time of the accident.
