An accident shut down the John Deere Road west exit, off I--74 in Moline Friday afternoon.

According to police, the driver of an SUV had just gotten onto the ramp when, for some reason, the vehicle left the road, went down a hill and crashed into a tree.

Officers on the scene say 5 people were inside the SUV at the time and all five had to be rushed to the hospital.  There's no word on the extent of their injuries.

Officers did have to shut down the exit, but expected it to be closed for a short time.
