QUAD CITIES (KWQC) - A FIRST ALERT DAY will be in effect from Noon Tuesday through 3 PM Wednesday. We begin the last Monday of 2020 with cloudy skies, followed by gradual clearing and cold sunshine during the day. Temperatures will only reach the upper 20′s to lower 30′s. Clouds will be on the increase again overnight as our next storm system moves into place. This system will begin with light to moderate snow Tuesday afternoon, then possibly become mixed with sleet or freezing rain Tuesday night, with a wintry mix of rain and snow into Wednesday. Expect a changeover back to snow Wednesday before that system exits the region. Right now it looks like areas north of I-80 and our western counties will be the prime location for several inches of accumulating snow, ranging from 6 to 10″. The QC Metro could get amounts ranging from 3″ to as much as 6″ in some locations.

TODAY: Morning clouds, then cold sunshine. High: 31°. Wind: NW 10-15 mph.

TONIGHT: Increasing cloudiness. Low: 18°. Wind: W 5-10 mph.

TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy with light to moderate snow developing by afternoon. High: 33°. Wind: SE 5-15 mph.
