Iowa officials report 456 new COVID-19 cases, 26 deaths over 24 hours
DES MOINES, Iowa (KWQC) - Iowa officials reported 456 new COVID-19 cases and 26 deaths between 10:30 a.m. Monday and 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to the state’s coronavirus website.
Officials are now reporting that 336,963 people have tested positive for the virus, and 5,498 have died since the pandemic began. The 14-day positivity rate was 4.3%, based on the total number of tests, and the seven-day positivity rate was 4.4%.
As of 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, 316,840 have recovered from the virus. Officials also reported that 209 people were hospitalized, up from 197 reported Monday. Of those, 34 were admitted over the last 24 hours, 39 were in the intensive care unit, and 11 were on ventilators.
As of Tuesday afternoon, at least 723,262 COVID-19 vaccines - 696,640 to Iowa residents, have been administered statewide. Of those, 528,600 have had at least the first dose of the two-shot series, while 186,759 people have been fully vaccinated.
