GALESBURG, Ill. (KWQC) - Crews responded to a fire in Galesburg Wednesday evening.

Fire officials were called to the 600 block of South Academy Street just before 5:30 p.m. for a report of a fire at an apartment building.

Upon arrival, crews found light smoke coming from the roof of the building. Crews were able to make entry and extinguish a kitchen fire. Fire officials say the fire was contained to the kitchen by suppression crews.

The cause of the fire was determined to be unintentional from cooking.

The damages are estimated to be approximately $20,000.
